FAA/FAR

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), an agency of the Department of Transportation, regulates and oversees all aspects of civil aviation in the United States. Rules prescribed by the FAA, specifically Part 135 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), dictate a set of operating standards and maintenance requirements that charter aircraft operators must comply with. As one of the leading private brokerage firms in the United States, it is our duty to ensure that all aircraft operators that we work with satisfy and exceed not only FAA regulations, but our own safety standards in the following categories:

  • Flight Operations
  • Aircraft and Equipment
  • Operating Limitations and Weather Requirements
  • Flight Crewmember Requirements
  • Crewmember Flight Time and Duty Rest and Period Limitations
  • Crewmember Testing Requirements
  • Training
  • Airplane Performance Operating Limitations

In addition, we have designed a pre-screening process for charter operators which determine whether they are a suitable match for our clients based on safety audits, insurance coverage/limits, customer service audits, and mission/aircraft options. Proper due diligence by RYL is performed by:

  • Obtaining and reviewing reports from third-party independent safety auditors for operators, aircrafts and crewmembers
  • Verifying that the charter operator has a current Part 135 operating certificate
  • Verifying type ratings and qualifications/training of flight crewmembers
  • Verifying that the liability insurance carried on potential aircraft is satisfactory
  • Knowing which aircraft tail-numbers the operators are authorized to operate
